Shop ManagerCelebrate National Watermelon Day by consuming juicy, fresh watermelon. About 92% of a watermelon is water, making it a popular treat for dogs and humans alike! It’s high lycopene levels promote cardiovascular and bone health, and it’s packed with nutrients – vitamins A, B6, C and potassium. At about 50 calories a cup it’s a refreshing and hydrating treat on a hot day.

SAFE WAYS TO FEED A DOG WATERMELON
Watermelon should be fed in moderation and given to your dog in additional to their regular, balanced diet. Before giving watermelon to your dog, be sure to remove any seeds as they could cause an intestinal blockage. It’s also a good idea to remove the rind because it may cause gastrointestinal upset.

CHUNKS: Slice up in bite-size chunks.

FROZEN CHUNKS: Freeze chunks in freezer and take out to help your dog cool down on a hot summer day!

PUREE: Blend in food processor or blender, then freeze in an ice cube tray.

WATERMELON ICE CREAM: Blend frozen watermelon chunks with plain, unsweetened yogurt. Place on top of his normal food, freeze in an ice cube tray, or various Hero Treat ‘N Play and Hero Freezies dog toys.
