Our Food Tumbler is a clear forager that is recommended for birds with intermediate to advanced-level foraging skills. The flower-like curves hold the treats you insert. Birds will spin the Food Tumbler so treats fall into the transparent tube at the bottom. Adjust the tube at the bottom of the tumbler so you can change the difficulty level of foraging for your feathered friend. Our Food Tumbler is made from durable polycarbonate to withstand active daily play. Attaches easily to the side of any birdcage.

My 3 Greys all absolutely LOVE this toy. Other foraging toys have been ignored but not this one. one of my Greys even spins hers when it is empty to let me know that she wants something other than is what is in her food bowls. And no matter what my birds are occupied with, when I fill the Food Tumbler, they come running.

The only reason that I didn’t give it 5 stars is that I have had the mounting “stem” break off of several after they have been used for awhile. Still, my birds love these enough that I keep replacing the broken ones.

I have seen complaints on other sites that these are hard to clean. It really is pretty simple. I just take out the tiny screws on the back of the Tumbler itself and it comes right apart for cleaning.

Too big for my Nanday Conure, but it is funny to see her try and turn it around. 🙂 I end up spinning it for her sometimes so she can at least get the treats.

It is a great product and my bird really enjoys it! I accidentally broke mine and Caitec sent me a new one free of charge within the next 2 days!

My Double Yellow Amazon Parrot loves his food tumbler! I find the best way to keep him interested is to load it about half way full of wooden balls you can get from a craft store, I a couple of sizes, ones that will actually drop into the feeder tube, and ones that are just slightly too big to drip into the feeder tube. Then in the rest of the space fill it with treats like nuts or whatever you want. This way the bird has to do a little more work turning it to get food. They like the puzzle and the foraging. This is ideal for that.

Good for rats; holes big enough to get the food out!

My Alexandrines are still trying to get the hang of this toy. We tried filling it with the Caitec nuggets (which they LOVE!) but that didn’t work. We then filled it with colorful beads and trinkets. They are starting to play with it now.

I was really looking forward to this toy for my parrot. I’d been looking for one just like this for a full year! When we got it, we found there were four tiny screw holes that hold the toy together, not all screws arrived to our house. Making the toy itself not hold together as well as it should. He enjoys the toy well enough but whenever he spins it, the toy makes a loud squeaking sound (I keep thinking it’s my cockatiel screeching). Less than thrilled with how we received it. I had originally planned to buy several of these, now I’m just disappointed with the quality of what I have.

This toy is great for my Grey and my Eclectus. Can you make a smaller version for my conures? I know they’d love it, too!

  19. Rebecca B. (verified owner)

My Eclectus and Grey both love this and learned quickly how to use it. Glad there are two levels of challenge and that it is see-through. Wish there were a smaller version available for my conures.

Finally, a foraging toy that is a little harder! My bird (Timneh) is slowly getting the hang of it. It is well made and engaging!

I understand the delays in shipping but I have not received my order yet! My parrots love this toy and I ordered replacements in case one gets broken.

Not a great foraging toy. The picture is deceptive. It shows “oven fresh bites” in the toy. They won’t actually fit, even the medium size. The only way to get them or any other larger food in is to disassemble the toy. You can remove the back for cleaning by removing multiple tiny screws (break-out your glasses repair kit), but this is not practical. Smaller pellets (e.g. tops, harrisons, and such) can be put in through the access tube, but the smaller items also fall right back out of the tube because the slit is uniform rather than graduated width. I like the idea, so I gave it a 2, but the execution was poor enough that it’s pretty much useless for anything except popcorn.
