Foraging Sphere

Plastic Foraging Sphere This is an entry level device for parrots that have limited or no foraging experience. A six-inch stainless steel skewer rod or kabob passes through a three inch clear hanging globe with open slots on the bottom half. To fill, hold the sphere in one hand and turn the rod counter clockwise, remove the top half and fill with the food of your choice and twist the rod back into place. Pellets, dehydrated or fresh fruit and vegetables, shelled nuts or millet spray are excellent fill items. You might pass the kabob through a piece of fresh fruit or a vegetable prior to reassembling to make a tempting lure. The bell on the bottom of the sphere will attract the attention of a novice forager who may mistakenly thinks it is a toy

Excellent for Green-Cheeked Conure! November 28, 2012
Reviewer: Mallory Odam from Waycross, GA United States
I bought this because my conure (who is about 10 months old, and I received him at 6 months old), has a pellet diet, and he ALWAYS eats. He only plays with his toys occasionally and even when I let him out of his cage he goes back and eats CONSTANTLY, so then, because of his lack of foraging, he's always trying to "hunt" on my t-shirts and on nearby blankets and such when we let him out. Anyway, I bought this foraging sphere for him because I thought he would use it for his pellets, but the pellets I use are too small to fit in the sphere, so I filled it with fresh fruit and he started eating out of it within 5 minutes! He loves it. Maybe this will stop him from consistently hunting on my clothes and in my hair!
